Kaftans, Abaya and Jalabiya are clothing items worn by modest women all over the world. These clothing items are loved by Muslim ladies, mummy G.O’s lol, Arabian women and Christian ladies. After our previous post on turban styles in 2019 it just feels right to talk about another clothing item with a modest vibe.
Abaya is a simple, loose over-garment, essentially a robe-like dress. Traditional Abaya are black and may either be a large square of fabric draped from the shoulders or head.
It covers the whole body except the head, feet, and hands. It can be worn with the niqāb , a face veil covering all but the eyes.

The modern abaya covers the entire body, except for hands, face, and head. The head and neck are then covered by a scarf or wrap. Some women also cover the hands and face.

Kaftan is a loose piece of clothing with wide sleeves or what Nigerian tailors call “cut together shoulder“.
