Latest internet sensation, @funnytoheeb is making waves with his funny re-creation of celebrity style. For every celebrity style, he finds a way to create cheaper hilarious versions.
I knew I had to reach out to him for an interview after I saw his hilarious re-creation of Laura Ikeji’s outfit.
HOT TOPIC: OMG! Recharge seller bags are trending? LOL
In this brief interview with Toheeb, he talks about the inspiration behind his brand and future expectations.
Excerpts from the interview…
We all know you as Funny Toheeb the nylon boy. However, can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Toheeb Adedokun. I am 21 years old. I don’t want to talk much on my education but I am currently a student.
Where did the inspiration for your funny celebrity style re-creation brand come from?
It all began when I saw a picture of Wizkid wearing a D&G face mask online. I took a selfie of the same pose while with a nylon on my face.
I was only playing around when I did that. Surprisingly, the picture went viral to the extent that Wizkid posted it on his Insta-story.

Some people are of the opinion that you blatantly copied Mummy Ndioha. Is that true?
No, it is not true. I used to follow Mummy Ndioha on Instagram but I didn’t start because of her. Neither did I copy her.
Moreover, Mummy Ndioha cannot go to a certain length like I do. Sometimes, I go naked for my photo-shoot. I haven’t seen anyone do that online.
How do you put funny looks together? Who helps you with the design, creative direction and photography?
My Nigga, B. O levels got me on that. He is really creative. He is a stylist, Photographer and Creative Art Student.

With the number of celebrity style re-creators on the internet, how have you been able to stand out amidst the competition?
I’ve kinda said that already. Sometimes, to make it funny, I have to go semi-nude and crazy. That is what makes me stand out.
Have you ever gotten any backlash from celebrities whose style you re-created? Did they see it like you were throwing a shade?
Hmm, they tend to find it funny. Non of them has seen it and dropped a harsh comment or said anything bad so far except the work of Chika Lann I did.
I believe she saw the picture even though she never commented or reposted it. She probably didn’t like it.
Obviously not everybody will like what you do but how has the reception from family & friends being since you started?
My dad complains whenever he sees images of my work where I am almost naked. My mom on the other hand supports me 100% percent and my friends are cool with it.

You have amassed over 26,000 followers on Instagram due to your creative work with some of your followers being popular Nigerian celebrities. Obviously you’re sort of a celeb now lol. But, so far has that translated to anything in your pocket?
Yes it has because I currently do adverts on my page which are not free. Though the money is little but it is steady *wink* lol.
Aside monetary gain, what other benefits have you gotten off your brand?
Nothing big yet, but I believe the best is yet to come.
What are the long-term plans for your brand? What should we expect from you in the future? Would you keep re-creating celebrity styles? (because it may get boring at a point) Don’t you think?
I have plans but let me get through with this first because this can last for long. Thank you.
