Homemade Sugar Wax Recipe For Hair Removal

Sugar wax, or ‘sugaring’, is a trend that’s been sweeping the internet recently. With its easy to use instructions and almost painless hair removal, it have become one of the most sought after hair removal treatments available.

It’s safe to say that going to a salon for sugaring can cost much more than we are willing to pay. Is painless waxing really that worth it?

Here’s a home recipe you can try to save yourself some money and pain. It’s also great for those emergency touch ups before a night out when it’s too late to get an appointment.

Recipe

Ingredients
200g white granulated sugar
1-2 tablespoons of honey
60 ml fresh lemon juice
60 ml warm water
candy thermometer (optional)

Making the wax

1. Add all the ingredients to a large pot and heat on high.

2. Stir frequently to make sure the mixture dissolves completely.

3. Once the mixture starts boiling, reduce the heat and keep stirring.

4. Once the mixture hits 260 degrees F, remove from heat. If you do not have a candy thermometer, remove as soon as the mixture turns golden brown. Do not let the mixture sit on the heat once it starts to turn as it burns very easily.

5. Pour mixture into a sealable jar and let cool until it feels lukewarm.

Applying the wax

1. Clean and dry skin before waxing.

2. Using a spatula of popsicle stick, apply a thin layer of wax to your skin opposite to the direction of hair growth. Allow to cool.

3. You can either use strips or your fingers to pull. Be sure to pull parallel to the skin and to use quick, strong motions to avoid any wax being left behind.

4. When you are finished, seal the jar and refrigerate until you need it again, then just reheat to the desired temperature and you’re good to go! (makes enough for two legs)
