Bottega Veneta, an Italian brand whose prices are a far-cry from a Tokyo Shoyu six-pack, has cooked up sandals mimicking instant noodles for a 2020 release.
The beige footwear is part of a collection conceived by English designer Daniel Lee, who’s currently the hottest name in the fashion industry after he swooped four awards at the 2019 British Fashion Awards.
Granted, Lee is probably unaware of the cultural significance of the instant ramen since he’s not on social media.
“I don’t have social media.
I try and use my cell phone as little as possible. I definitely prefer human interaction. That’s very important to me and to the work I do,” he told Vogue .
That’s cool, Lee. Too bad you won’t be able to view the images showing the shoes in a bowl on a clout-chasing, Instagram influencer’s account, or millennials shading the hell out of them on Twitter. Probably for the best.
